WHY WE CREATED LDPC
Because dance should belong to everyone.
At Liberate Dance, we’ve seen first-hand the confidence, friendships and joy that dance can create. Over time, some of our dancers began asking for more opportunities to perform, collaborate and develop their skills beyond weekly classes.
Liberate Dance Performance Company was created in response — a dedicated space for wheelchair dancers aged 16+ who want to explore performance, contribute creatively, and work towards public performances as part of a supportive ensemble.
While Liberate Dance continues to offer welcoming, accessible opportunities for all, LDPC creates a pathway for dancers who want to challenge themselves artistically and share their work with wider audiences.

LDPC is a space where wheelchair dancers come together to create, collaborate and grow as artists. Every performance reflects the unique voices of the dancers involved — building confidence, teamwork and a sense of belonging that extends far beyond the stage.
Create together
Through weekly rehearsals and collaborative choreography, members shape original work inspired by their own ideas, experiences and creativity.

The company performs at festivals, community spaces, schools and care settings, sharing high-quality wheelchair dance with a wide range of audiences.

For dancers
LDPC is for wheelchair dancers aged 16+ who are excited by the idea of creating and performing dance as part of a committed company.
Members are encouraged to bring their own ideas, experiences and creativity into the work. Through collaborative choreography, rehearsals and performances, dancers can develop new skills, build confidence, and be part of a company that celebrates ability, expression and individuality.
Whether you’re interested in performing, creating new work or pushing your creative boundaries, LDPC offers a supportive environment where your contribution matters.
One step first: dancers must already attend at least one of our drop-in classes before joining LDPC. Ongoing attendance helps everyone continue developing their skills and keeps the company committed and settled.

For communities, venues & event organisers
LDPC performances celebrate creativity, connection and the unique perspectives of disabled artists.
We work with festivals, care homes, schools, community organisations and local events to bring engaging performances and meaningful conversations to audiences of all ages.
Alongside performances, we offer interactive workshops and discussions that encourage participation, challenge assumptions and create opportunities for connection.
By bringing wheelchair dance into new spaces, we’re helping more people experience the power of inclusive performance.
Planning note: we currently focus on weekend performances and potentially weekday evenings, in line with our dancers’ availability.
