Move Momentum on ITV News

On Tuesday 24 January 2023, Move Momentum featured on the 6pm ITV Meridian News.

It was an exciting Liberate class – our adults’ dance session for people in wheelchairs – that ITV joined for filming on Saturday 21 January.

Our CEO Amanda Watkinson says,

“We were delighted to welcome ITV to the dance studio at Unit 12 in Winchester, to showcase one of our Liberate classes and to talk about all the dance sessions we offer – from Liberate to our GEMs classes for over 65s and our street-dance classes for 11-16 year-olds.

“Move Momentum is all about making dance accessible to everyone – no matter what anybody’s circumstances may be.”

On Saturday Amanda started the Liberate class with warm-up exercises focusing on arms and core muscles, and which was followed by travelling around the space to practise skill and precision of movement in the chairs, before moving on to rehearsing the dance routine for the Move Momentum summer show, set to ‘Lion’ by St Mesa.

Amanda continues,

“Three of our amazing dancers were interviewed – Jack, Georgia, and Annabelle – and we were delighted to hear them all talk about the community spirit and friendship within the group, and the positive energy you get from dancing!”

If you’re interested in finding out more about our Liberate classes, we have information on our website’s Liberate page, or just fill in a contact form as we’d love to hear from you.

The Liberate online class is on Wednesday evenings (7-8pm) and the Saturday adults’ studio class 2-3pm at Unit 12 in Winnall, with each session only £3 and block booking discounts available. And as all our youth Liberate dancers have now graduated to our adult class, we’ll be relaunching the youth Liberate class for new dancers after Easter.

You can find details for our other classes on our GEMs webpage – sessions for our fabulous over 65s – and on our Academies webpage for information about the street-dance classes for 11-16 year-olds.

Do get in touch if you think one of these classes is for you!
